Thank you very much!!! <3 I strongly suggest Prismacolor pencils, soft lead is veeeeeeeeery nice for such things. X3 And layering a couple colors to get the color you want is also a good way to get a smooth-ish look. I am in no way an expert(though classes certanly helped XD).

Maybe that's why. The only pencils I've ever used are Crayola, and the most layers I've ever done are...let me think...three? Zomg. I am deprived.
